June 2019 seems like a distant future and we may have hoverboards and self lacing sneakers by then. But, for our teens and some of our adults, June 2019 will be a chance to embark on a missions trip down south to Santa Cruz, Bolivia to partner with Operation Restoration.
Where is Bolivia?
Over the next 17 months, the teenagers will be hosting fundraisers, collecting cans, and looking for odd jobs to be done to earn the money for their trip. The cost per head for the missions trip is between $1600 - $1800 which includes their flight, food and room and board. While they are in Bolivia, they will be working in the Children’s Homes that are run by Operation Restoration, doing what is needed, from painting rooms to possibly helping with some light construction. They will also be sharing the love of God with children and other youth by simply spending time with them. We will know more of what we will be exactly doing as we get closer to our departure date.
Once they are in Bolivia, the cost per day, which is included in the above price, is $60 which covers all of their expenses. This is broken down into $23 for accommodations, $20 for food and water, and $17 for daily transportation.
Sunday, March 11th we have Youth Sunday at 10:30am where our teens will be taking over the morning service and blessing us with an amazing worship service. On this Sunday, we will be taking up a special offering for them that will go towards their fundraising efforts for the trip. Another way you can help supports them in raising their funds will be joining them for the Easter Breakfast on Sunday, April 1st at 9am. They will be cooking up a great breakfast for us to share in and all donations from that meal will be going towards their fundraising efforts. Finally, on Saturday, April 28th at 6pm the youth will be hosting Roger and Isha Hulford, the founders of Operation Restoration and also my (Pastor Paul’s) parents, for an informational evening for them and parents to ask some questions and share a meal. We are really excited about this opportunity for your teens to experience the world, but also to share God’s love, grace and mercy in this world.
